Prague Ruzyně Airport sees drop in traffic
Prague, 08.02.2010
The Prague Ruzyně Airport cleared 11.64 million passengers last year, down 1 million (8 percent) against 2008, airport operator Letiště Praha announced in a press release.
The management ascribes the fall to the economic crisis. In particular in the first quarter of the year 2009, there was a reduction in offered flights from the side of airlines, head of marketing and airline business Stanislav Zeman said. Passenger numbers started to grow again in November and January confirmed the trend. The number of passengers cleared in January was 5.5 percent higher than a year earlier. Zeman expects the growth to continue. Prague Ruzyně attracted more passengers in transit. As many as 1.3 million people used the airport for changing planes, 9 percent more than in 2008.
